Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how codedparagon, LLC (“codedparagon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the iMentality mobile application (“iMentality” or the “App”). It applies to your use of the App on any Apple device.
If you have questions about this policy, please contact us at hello@codedparagon.com.
1. The short version
iMentality is built around a simple promise: your private check-ins stay yours.
- We do not operate servers that receive your journal entries. Your entries live on your device and, if you sign in with Apple, sync to your own private iCloud account using Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Storage.
- We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
- We do not track you across apps or websites. The App contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party tracking code.
- You can export or delete your data at any time from inside the App.
The rest of this policy explains the details.
2. Who we are
codedparagon, LLC is a North Carolina limited liability company. iMentality is its product. We are the data controller for the limited information described in this policy.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you create inside the App
When you use iMentality, you create journal entries and related tags. This includes:
- Mood values, hours worked, work-day flags, and free-text notes you write
- Names you add to your People Bank
- Context tags you add to your Context Bank
- Any other content you choose to enter
This content stays on your device. If you sign in with Apple, this content also syncs to your personal iCloud account through Apple’s NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore. codedparagon never receives or sees this content. We have no server infrastructure that ingests, stores, or processes journal data.
3.2 Information from Sign in with Apple
If you choose to sign in with Apple, the App receives:
- A stable, anonymous Apple user identifier
- Your full name and email address, only if you choose to share them (Apple lets you use a private relay email and decline to share your name)
This information is used solely to (a) recognize you across sessions and devices and (b) link your account to your iCloud-synced data. We do not use it for marketing and we do not share it with third parties.
You can use the App anonymously without signing in. In that case, no Apple ID information is collected, and data stays only on your device.
3.3 Subscription and purchase information
If you purchase a subscription or a Lifetime license, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. codedparagon does not receive your payment information. We receive only the result of Apple’s transaction verification (whether your subscription is active) so the App can unlock premium features on your device.
3.4 Information we do not collect
The App does not collect, and the developer does not receive:
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) — the App does not use Apple’s Tracking framework. Our privacy manifest declares
NSPrivacyTracking = false. - Analytics or telemetry — the App contains no third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Sentry, etc.).
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access
- Crash reports beyond what Apple may collect at the operating-system level if you have opted in to share analytics with Apple in your iOS Settings (governed by Apple, not by us)
4. How information is stored
| Information | Where it lives | Who can access it |
|---|---|---|
| Journal entries, people tags, context tags | Your device’s local storage + your iCloud account (if signed in with Apple) | You, via the App on your devices |
| Apple Sign In identifier | Locally on your device, plus Apple’s authentication systems | You and Apple |
| Purchase status | Apple’s App Store records, plus locally on your device | You and Apple |
We do not operate a backend. There is no codedparagon database holding your information.
iCloud transfers and at-rest storage are encrypted by Apple. See Apple’s iCloud security overview for details.
5. How we use information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Provide the App’s features (saving entries, computing your Workplace Score, generating reports, syncing across your devices)
- Verify your subscription status with Apple
- Respond to support requests you send us
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the App.
6. Sharing of information
We do not share your information with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose. There are no third-party SDKs in the App that receive your data.
The only parties involved in the operation of the App other than codedparagon are:
- Apple Inc. — operates Sign in with Apple, iCloud, and the App Store/StoreKit. Apple’s handling of any information you provide to those services is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
We do not share information with your employer, your employer’s representatives, HR departments, opposing counsel, private investigators, insurers, or any other third party that may seek information about you or your use of the App. We will not voluntarily respond to such inquiries. The Terms of Use, Section 10, contains additional provisions about workplace, HR, and third-party use of the App.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law (for example, in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or warrant) — but because we hold almost no information about you and have no copy of your journal entries, there is very little we could produce in such a case. We reserve the right to object, move to quash, or notify you of any such process, except where prohibited by law.
7. Reports you generate and export
When you generate a report inside the App, the resulting PDF is created on your device. If you choose to share it (via the iOS share sheet, AirDrop, email, messaging apps, etc.), the destination of that share is your choice and outside our control. Once you share a report, the recipient may store it.
8. Your rights and controls
You can, at any time:
- View all of your entries inside the App’s Records view.
- Export your data as a PDF report from inside the App.
- Delete individual entries from the Records view.
- Delete all of your data using the data-reset option in Settings. This clears your local data and your iCloud Key-Value Storage entries.
- Delete your account / stop using the App by deleting the App from your device. To revoke Sign in with Apple access, go to iOS Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple → iMentality → Stop Using Apple ID.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you additional rights — for example, the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any such right, contact us at hello@codedparagon.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
8.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, the legal bases on which we process your limited information are:
- Performance of a contract (to provide the App you have asked to use)
- Legitimate interests (to verify subscription status, prevent abuse, and respond to your support requests)
- Consent, where applicable and where you have provided it
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8.2 California (CCPA / CPRA)
We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise them, contact us at hello@codedparagon.com.
9. Children
iMentality is intended for users 17 years of age or older and is rated accordingly in the App Store. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). If you believe we have inadvertently received information from a child, please contact us at hello@codedparagon.com and we will delete it.
10. Security
We rely on Apple’s platform security for the data flows involved:
- Local storage is protected by iOS file-system encryption.
- iCloud sync is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
- Sign in with Apple uses Apple’s standard authentication flows.
No system is perfectly secure. If you become aware of a security issue, please contact us at hello@codedparagon.com.
11. International users
codedparagon, LLC is based in North Carolina, United States. By using the App, you understand that any information processed in connection with your use is handled in accordance with this policy and applicable U.S. law, with the additional rights set out in Sections 8.1 and 8.2 where they apply to you.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Your continued use of the App after the change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
